LMHPCO, a nonprofit, 501(c)3 educational corporation, is committed to research, professional continuing education and public awareness of hospice and end-of-life care throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
LMHPCO networks over 180 independent hospice agencies and end-of-life care partners interested in improving the quality of hospice and end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families throughout the Louisiana-Mississippi area.
LMHPCO receives no governmental funding and relies solely upon the support and cooperation of members and benefactors to develop end-of-life care resources within both states. All donations are appreciated, acknowledged and fully tax-deductible, as provided by law.
Support of LMHPCO allows:
- Research Into End-of-Life Care in Louisiana and Mississippi through data collection and analysis of current services and future needs of both states; as well as analysis of consumer satisfaction with hospice care and services.
- The Journal, a monthly educational publication on hospice and end-of-life care in Louisiana and Mississippi.
- Weekly Internet Updates from around the nation regarding hospice and end-of-life care (i.e., National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization [NHPCO]; Hospice News Network [HNN]; Hospice Foundation of America [HFA]; Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services [CMS].)
- 24/7 Telephone Access to hospice and End-of-Life information and services in Louisiana and Mississippi at 888-546-1500.
- Hospice Prison Project: training, developing and supporting hospice staffs and Inmate Hospice Volunteers in correctional facilities throughout Louisiana and Mississippi (i.e., current sites: Angola, Elayn Hunt in Louisiana and Parchman, MS).
- Technical Assistance and Consultation to hospices and government regulators on improving end-of-life care in Louisiana and Mississippi.
- Promoting Cooperation among increasingly competitive hospice providers and partners in Louisiana and Mississippi; committed to improve access to and quality hospice care for the terminally ill patients and their families.
